This minimalist speaker concept was created based off of the iconic Tivoli Model 1 radio. A very unobtrusive and sleek design that will fit well in any contemporary setting.

Timeless Design

I am inspired everyday by some of the elegant designs that haven't had a need for change since they first appeared. For the chair that I am designing, I am striving to create something timeless that will still retain its design and quality 20 to 30 years from now and won't lose its valor 5 to 10 years down the road.

Dutch Furniture Design

This design is inspired by Dutch furniture design. When I look at Dutch design it gives me a sense of aloofness and nostalgia. It makes me smile, and I see it as something that relieves any pretensions that one may have towards design.

Future of DIY?

Could this product provide a future of home DIY Industrial Designers?
The impact that this product could have on the design world is huge, and furthermore create an awareness of Industrial Design and a better appreciation for product and design.

Strengths

My strengths as a designer:

Technically, in school I'd say my strengths are my 3D modeling abilities, but I think my strengths go beyond the surface of what we learn in school.
I think my biggest strength as a designer is my desire to do good for other people. I constantly have the welfare of others on my mind when designing new products. My ultimate goal is to work for a company that does humanitarian design.

Good Design

Sure, this is the textbook definition of "Good Design", but I think the question "What is good design?" is very subjective and varies from person to person. To me, good design is design that makes a significant impact on a person's life. I know I've referenced the product before in my blog, but I think something like the Lifestraw, designed by Project H is the quintessential example of good design.

Goals Reviewed

Since I didn't exactly specify my goals at the beginning of the quarter, I'll do so now. I wanted to improve my sketching abilities, and rendering capabilities as well as gain new skills in order to get a job that I wanted.
So far, I think I've improved my sketching abilities, but still need a lot of work in perfecting my rendering skills.

I thought it would be good to compare and contrast two separate types of infographics for sailboats. Obviously the one in Dutch is more difficult to read and understand, but visually I think that they both work well. Larry Ellison's boat version is more simplistic and reads better, but there are some good elements in the top version. The elements in the top version could be infographics in themselves, such as the map and the demonstration of the clothing, but all of the elements combined in to one page make for a more difficult to read and clustered infographic opposed to the simplistic version below it.

Inspirational Designer- Emily Pilloton

Emily Pilloton, the founder of Project H design is an inspirational designer to me because of what she has done for the world as opposed to for herself. She has done what I aspire to do in life which is make a difference in people's lives who need it the most. Products such as Life Straw and Hippo Roller have made a huge difference in some of the poorest countries in the world, allowing people to drink water without getting deathly sick.

Patagonia is a brand that uses simplicity to their advantage. Quality materials make for products that last a lifetime. A brand that started by making rock-climbing hardware out of a garage now makes some of the best outdoor clothing for extreme conditions. They support many environmental initiatives and are constantly expanding the range of product that they design.

Trailer Trash

For such an atrocious movie, this is one of the best trailers I have ever seen. It uses very powerful, colorful imagery that is very clear and simple, and the music gives the trailer a gradual and suspenseful build-up. To support these, the dialogue tells a brief overview of the story in the film, but you still want to find out more (especially who Odius is), which is what a trailers are intended to do. The text is also very clean and makes you believe that the "Acclaimed Directors" and writers are important people.

The first time I watched this preview I got chills down my back.
The first time I watched this movie I sealed it in the Netflix envelope in hopes for it to never be reopened.
